Become a Campground Host in the heart of Bigfoot Country along the Trinity Scenic Byway!
This Campground Host position is located near Willow Creek, California on the Six Rivers National Forest. There are a wide variety of terrains and recreational opportunities here on the Lower Trinity Ranger District. Most areas of the Forest are open year round, offering visitors a variety of recreational activities.
Located along Highway 299 just 1.5 miles west of the town of Willow Creek, California, in the Six Rivers National Forest, this small campground is nestled in a grove of madrones with 17 campsites. At approximately 1680 feet elevation, summer temperatures can reach the low 100 with cool evenings.
Willow Creek is a small, full-service community located along the Wild and Scenic classified Trinity River. There are numerous recreation opportunities including rafting, fishing, swimming, hiking, golfing, hunting and wildlife watching. Eureka, California is just one hour away to the west.
Camp Host Duties:
- Greet Forest visitors with a friendly and helpfull attitude and assists with campsite registration, answers questions and assures compliance of regulations.
- Keep restrooms and campsites neat and clean
- Perform light maintenance of campsites and trail to creek.
- Maintain a neat, clean, organized host site as an example to visiting public.
- Represent the Six Rivers National Forest in a professional, courteous manner and shows a presence of authority and reports any law enforcement issues to Law Enforcement personnel and Recreation staff.
- Keep supervisor appraised of any issues regarding campers, campsite facilites or maintenance needs.
- Report any hazards in or out of the campground to Recreation staff.
- Assist with the National Recreation Reservation System by posting reservations at campsites.
- Report campground occupancy daily to district office. All required tools and supplies will be provided.
Benefits of Joining the Team: As campground host, you will recrive a free large campsite with electricity, water, and sewer hook-ups. You will be provided a partial uniform. You will be a member of a volunteer team of camp hosts providing similar services in seven other campgrounds. A small reimbursement of incidental expenses may be available depending on the availability of funds.
Requirements for the Position: To be considered for this position, you will need a trailer/RV or 5th Wheel (not provided by Forest Service) to serve as your residence for the summer while serving as camp host. The typical season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day week-ends and will require a 5-day service week which will be Thursday through Monday. Weekend and holiday work are necessary.
