About this Opportunity
Park: Established on January 26, 1915, Rocky Mountain National Park is a living showcase of the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains. With elevations ranging from 8,000 feet in the wet, grassy valleys to 14,259 feet at the weather-ravaged top of Longs Peak, a visitor to the park has opportunities for countless breathtaking experiences and adventures.
Duties: The Campground Host?s main role is to act as an ambassador for the park by being friendly, courteous and helpful to visitors. Specific duties may include any or all of the following: Performing compliance checks for payment or site assignments; Gathering statistical data on campground usage; Roving the campground for minor rules infractions; Providing information on recreational opportunities to the public; Performing minor campground maintenance projects; Assisting campground staff during peak periods on getting campers into sites; Informing dispatch or staff when campground is full or close to full; Opening or closing campground facilities as needed; Operating government vehicles including pick-up trucks, vans and carts, a valid state driver?s license is required.
Skills: All camp host work is performed at elevations of 8,000 to 10,000 feet above sea level. They normally are on their feet for most of the work day, which includes walking, standing and minor physical labor. They also must be prepared to work in a variety of weather conditions. Ability to work with visitors of all ages and various ethnic backgrounds. Must be able to communicate orally to visitor audiences of varying sizes. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
