About this Opportunity

A summer host is needed to staff Wish Poosh Campground on the Cle Elum Ranger District, Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, from mid-May through mid-September.  Wish Poosh Campground sits on the banks of Lake Cle Elum.

We need an energetic, enthusiastic couple or single individual to staff the campground on a five (5) day week schedule including weekend days. Typical days off will be Tuesday and Wednesday.

Setting:  The closest town and Forest Service office is located in Cle Elum, Washington, ten miles southeast of the facility.  Cle Elum is a full service community of 1,993 people and is located approximately 82 miles northeast of the city of Seattle, WA (population 700,000). Central Washington is heavily forested with many lakes, streams and rivers that provide outstanding recreation opportunities.

Host Responsibilities: Host(s) must have good people skills and be responsible. The host(s) will be expected to perform the daily cleaning and minor maintenance of the campground facilities. The host(s) must be physically able to perform such tasks as raking, shoveling, sweeping, performing minor maintenance, keeping daily records and monitoring area use. Host(s) will represent the Forest Service in public contacts, providing information and directions, and reporting vandalism and other problems to ranger district personnel. All necessary tools, supplies and safety equipment will be provided.

Host duties include:  greeting visitors; directing traffic and users through the campground area; resupplying toilet paper; litter pick-up; informing users about fee information; restocking fee envelopes; and maintaining a daily log of campers and number of visitors.

Schedule: 20 hours per week. Typical schedule is five (5 hour) days on and two days off (usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays) with adjustments to the schedule to cover holidays.  Reimbursement for subsistence will be provided.

Host Site:  Site is dry camping with no water, electrical, or wastewater.  A Forest Service radio is provided.  NOTE:  Host(s) must provide a fully self-contained RV or trailer in well-maintained condition.
