About this Opportunity
Volunteers will lead groups (~15 people) of visitors on tours of recently acquired salt ponds, and interpret various aspects of salt ponds and their restoration.
Volunteer docents must be individuals who enjoy continuous learning on topics relevant to salt ponds and the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay NWR Complex. Docents must also be accepting of others? perspectives, and have strong verbal communication skills. Docents must be able to walk up to three miles per day over uneven terrain and be able to tolerate the range of temperatures that are characteristic of the San Francisco Bay Region.
Volunteer docents will receive 20-25 hours of training on aspects of salt ponds, salt marshes, their restoration, and interpretation. Docents must commit to one year of service, beginning on the first day of training, and will perform at least two tours per month.
We are currently accepting applications to be considered for future training dates.
