About this Opportunity
The Wilderness Road Campground located in Cumberland Gap National Historical Park features 160 sites that include 41 electric sites. This campground is located within 10 minutes of Middlesboro, Ky. Middlesboro, Ky has a population of approx. 12,000 and features multiple restaurants and shopping centers. The nearest gas station is less than 1 mile from the campground. Cell phone service is generally strong. This vacancy is for the months of June and July 2020. Must possess a valid drivers license.
Activities/ Responsibilities
- Works directly with park maintenance staff on a variety of outdoor projects
- Maintain bathhouses
- Host is responsible for the daily cleaning and restocking of supplies (Cleaning includes, but not limited to; mopping, cleaning toilets and urinals, cleaning walls and stall dividers, dusting, cleaning showers and outside hallway, sweeping walkways, etc.)
- Empty bear proof trash cans and replace trash bags near bathhouse
- Provide correct information and assistance to park visitors
- Staff campground entrance station during designated hours
- Handle Eastern National funds, handle merchandise, stock merchandise
- Keep entrance station clean and well stocked with park information
- Rove campground and report concerns to law enforcement or supervisor
- Responsible for the care of all NPS issued items
- Maintain a clean and organized campsite
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
Time Commitment
Duration: minimum of two months
Weekly Hour Requirement: 32
This is a nonpaid position. Individuals selected must camp on site. Pets will not be allowed in government buildings or vehicles. Cumberland Gap NHP is located in the states of Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia, this duty station is located in the state of Virginia.
