About this Opportunity

Purpose

To provide go-to resource for volunteer engagement, support and issue resolution methods

KeyResponsibilities

  • Implement corporate Red Cross Human Resources and Office of Volunteer Services policies and procedures
  • Receives appropriate training on all components and practices of Volunteer Relations and serves as a resident expert and coach on volunteer relations issues
  • Serves as the primary liaison to the Volunteer Services office, Regional Volunteer Services Officer and employees
  • During Operational State- serve as the primary contact on a DRO for Volunteer Issue Resolution issues that have been referred by Staff Relations for investigation and resolution
  • Works with RVSO to ensure Staff Services, Staff Relations and Staff Advocates know how to contact appropriate Volunteer Relations workers
  • Provides information and interpretation of issues that may arise in a DRO involving volunteers if deployed during Operational (Disaster) State
  • Explain appropriate Red Cross policies and procedures as related to Volunteer Relations during Steady and Operational State including utilization of Regional Volunteer Services Issue Resolution Toolkit materials to all supervisors (employees and volunteers)
  • Provide confidential mediator support during Operational/Disaster for supervisors and supervises as appropriate
  • Conduct appropriate investigation, documentation, and resolution when an issue involving a volunteer or volunteers moves from Level 1 to Level 2 or Level 3 (See Steady State and Operational State Process Flow charts in Regional Volunteer Services Issue Resolution Tool Kit)
  • Serves as a resource and support to the Regional Volunteer Relations Team Members through managing ongoing communication to include, answering questions, holding trainings and/or calls to encourage best practice sharing, etc.
  • Supports VS in drafting additional tools and resources to promote a fair and harassment-free environment.
  • Recommends to RVSO appropriate Training for supervisors of volunteers
  • Actively participate inmonthly conference calls of the NHQ VS Volunteer Relations Team
  • If possible - serve as Volunteer Relations Manager during Operational - Disaster State within your Region. Possibility to deploy to serve as Volunteer Relations Manager in another Region during DRO in that region
  • In partnership with RVSO follow established process for tracking and reporting of volunteer HR issues handled within the region.

Qualifications

  • Conflict management/mediation/ training experience
  • Experience with employee/staff relations, HR management
  • Experience delivering training material and/or facilitation
  • Ability to work in confidential situations
  • Active listening skills

Training

  • Orientation to American Red Cross
  • American Red Cross appropriate training for this position
  • On the job training as needed

Relationships

Related with volunteers and supervisors on volunteer work related HR issues in all departments/activity areas

Length of Appointment

One year, renewable
