About this Opportunity
Stage 9’s mission is EXCITE MINDS, MOVE HEARTS and CHANGE LIVES through theatrical performance, arts education and live entertainment in Hutchinson, Reno County & South Central Kansas. A 501(c)3 organization, Stage 9 strives to produce quality entertainment and provide opportunities for artistic expression for all Hutchinson community members, specifically focused on ages 18 and up. Located at 9 S. Main in the heart of downtown Hutchinson, Stage 9 produces plays and musicals ranging from classics to contemporary hits. The Board of Directors is responsible for keeping this mission alive.
Volunteers are needed to serve on the Board of Directors.
-All Directors shall act as good faith stewards of the organization, including but not limited to the establishment of policies and procedures for finances, property, production, and promotion.
-The Board of Directions primary duty is fundraising by soliciting sponsors, members (patrons), and financially supporting the organization through purchasing a membership of any level.
-The Board of Directors may appoint ex-officio Directors as needed including but not limited to staff, legal counsel, and financial account.
-The Directors shall provide ex-officio members with a list of responsibilities and duties. If such appointment should require compensation for skills or duties, the amount shall be agreed upon by the ex-officio member and the Directors. Ex-officio members shall be present at functions as required by the Board of Directors.
-The Directors shall attend meetings beginning in January, ending in December as called by the board. Directors are encouraged to be a part of one committee for the duration of the committee's duties.
-Directors are encouraged to attend and participate in the planning meeting as announced by the in-coming president by the December meeting. This meeting is a crucial strategic planning meeting for the upcoming year.
-Directors are encouraged to attend workdays as available, work at least two performances of four productions annually as house manager or box office (or wherever needed), and strikes/auditions as available.
-Directors are encouraged to work fundraisers by setting up, working the actual fundraiser, and cleaning up as available.
-Directors shall be entitled to Vote at all meetings.
Qualifications:
An appreciation for live theatre, willing to be involved in productions (work the box office, help with sets, help with planning productions and events, etc. Do not necessarily need to have previous experience in theatre. A varied background of volunteers would be helpful, such as volunteers with experience in law, marketing, fundraising, grant writing and construction.

Dates/Times Needed:
-The annual meeting shall be held during December of each calendar year. Each annual meeting shall include a report by the President of the Board of Directors and a financial statement of the corporation by the Business Manager/Treasurer. Election of new members to the Board of Directors and the election of the Executive Board will be voted on by the Board.
-Notices of meetings, when required, may be given orally or in writing, by telephone, by announcement or delivery to members present at regular meetings, by mail, by electronic communication, or in person.
-Monthly meetings of the Board of Directors will be conducted each month of the calendar year as called by the board. Meetings are the 2nd Monday each month.
