Volunteer Job Description
Position Title: Holiday Gift Coordinator
Program: Binky’s Porch Elves Holiday Toy Drive
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours/week (Mid-October to Mid-December)
Location: Fairfield County and surrounding areas (includes cool temp storage area -based work)
Overview:Binky’s Porch Elves Holiday Toy Drive was launched in 2020 to spread comfort and joy to families of children undergoing cancer treatment. In 2024, more than 160 families received a surprise gift delivery-each one a reminder that they’re not alone.
We are seeking an organized and energetic Holiday Gift Coordinator to help manage the logistics and volunteer coordination that make this magic possible.
Responsibilities:·Coordinate the intake and organization of donated toys
·Sort toys by age, gender and type
·Monitor volunteer sign-ups for gift wrapping and delivery days
·Create efficient delivery routes for drivers across Connecticut
·Help set up and manage temporary workspaces (e.g., gift sorting and wrapping stations)
·Provide hands-on support with lifting, sorting, and staging gifts
·Communicate regularly with the program lead and volunteer team
Requirements:·Strong organizational and communication skills
·Ability to lift up to 15 lbs and work in cool temperature storage area
·Comfortable using spreadsheets and route planning tools (e.g excel, sign up genius, google maps)
·Must be available for 5-10 hours per week between mid-October thru mid-December, with increased hours in December.
·Passionate about bringing comfort and joy to families facing pediatric cancer
Important Dates:Due date for all donated toys - on or before December 2nd
Packing of all holiday gifts week of December 8th
Gift wrap day, December 13
Volunteer drivers gift pick-up and delivery - week of December 15 th
