About this Opportunity

Position Overview: Gender Freedom Society is seeking passionate and dedicated people to serve as a Policy Reaserchers, focusing on issues affecting the transgender/GNC community. Policy Researchers play a crucial role in advancing our advocacy efforts by raising awareness about transgender rights and promoting policies that support the needs of transgender individuals.

Responsibilities:

  • Policy Research: Conduct research on local and national policies affecting the transgender community, including healthcare access, legal rights, employment discrimination, and social services.
  • Draft research papers, policy briefs, and backgrounders to support advocacy or strategic goals.
  • Translate policy information into clear, actionable insights for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and manage databases, literature reviews, and policy tracking systems.
  • Legislative Advocacy: Monitor legislative developments related to transgender rights and work to influence policymakers through advocacy meetings, public hearings, and legislative advocacy strategies.
  • Monitor developments in relevant policy areas, including legislation, regulation, and public discourse.
  • Qualifications:

    • Passion for social justice and a commitment to advancing transgender rights and equality.
    • Strong understanding of issues affecting the transgender community, including healthcare access, legal rights, employment discrimination, and social stigma.
    • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
    • Experience in advocacy, community organizing, or related fields is preferred but not required.
