Nuclear Policy Fellow

The Nuclear Policy Fellow will research nuclear disarmament strategies, de-escalation policies, and the global impact of nuclear weapons programs. This fellowship is designed for those passionate about international security, arms control, and nonproliferation. Fellows will analyze treaties, defense budgets, and military policies, while also supporting advocacy efforts to reduce nuclear threats.

This opportunity is ideal for graduate students, recent graduates, or upper-level undergraduates studying international relations, political science, security studies, public policy, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

✅ Research nuclear disarmament efforts, including treaties (e.g., NPT, New START, TPNW) and global diplomatic initiatives.

✅ Analyze U.S. nuclear policy and budget allocations, tracking how defense spending fuels the nuclear arms race.

✅ Monitor geopolitical trends in nuclear proliferation, including U.S.-Russia-China arms dynamics and emerging threats.

✅ Develop policy briefs and reports outlining pathways for de-escalation and disarmament.

✅ Write articles, blog posts, and op-eds advocating for nuclear nonproliferation and military spending reductions.

✅ Engage with nuclear disarmament advocacy groups and participate in policy discussions.

✅ Support PEP’s legislative advocacy efforts by tracking relevant bills and attending hearings.

✅ Contribute to social media and educational campaigns focused on nuclear policy awareness.

Preferred Qualifications:

✔ Background in international relations, political science, security studies, or a related field.

✔ Strong research and policy analysis skills with experience in global security issues.

✔ Passion for nuclear disarmament, arms control, and diplomatic conflict resolution.

✔ Ability to write clear, compelling, and well-researched policy documents.

✔ Experience with policy research, legislative tracking, or international treaties is a plus.

✔ Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
