PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Information Desk (often referred to as InfoDesk) is the primary welcome center for Museum
guests, located near the main entrance of the Museum. Its primary function is to welcome guests
and be a source of information for them to help plan their visit as well as assist with information
pertaining to Boston area attractions.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The InfoDesk volunteer supports the Information Specialist and Support Associates, the two
roles within Visitor Services that staff the InfoDesk. Volunteers assist with wayfinding, distributing
amenities such as wheelchairs, strollers, and electric scooters, as well as storing items in the
coat room. Volunteers also assist in general FAQ at the InfoDesk such as parking or how to use
their tickets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interact directly with Museum visitors of all ages and backgrounds by answering questions and general customer service at the InfoDesk
- Welcome visitors and provide excellent customer service.
- Support InfoDesk operations including wayfinding, retrieving/returning amenities, and coat room storage
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Age 55 or older
- Interest in cultural institutions, STEM and science background a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service skills
SCHEDULE:
- Sunday 9:30-1:00
- Monday 9:30-1:00
- Wednesday 9:30-1:00
- Tues, Thurs, and Fri available for 9:30-1:00 or 1:30-5:00
COMMITMENT:
- 6 months, with the opportunity to recommit
