Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and mission-driven Volunteer Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our Executive Board of Members. As a key leadership role, the CFO will oversee financial strategy, budgeting, reporting, and compliance, ensuring the organization’s fiscal health and sustainability. This is an unpaid, volunteer position ideal for a finance professional passionate about contributing their expertise to a meaningful cause.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy & Oversight: Develop and implement financial policies, long-term fiscal plans, and risk management strategies.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting, monitor financial performance, and provide data-driven insights to guide decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare clear, accurate financial statements and present reports to the Board and stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, tax obligations, and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Fund Management: Optimize cash flow, investments, and reserves to support organizational growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director, Board, and committees to align financial strategy with mission objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or senior financial leader (nonprofit experience a plus).
  • Expertise in financial planning, accounting principles, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
  • Ability to dedicate 5–10 hours per month (flexible, remote-friendly).
