Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a youth-centered nonprofit dedicated to supporting students ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, social-emotional learning, academic enrichment, and creative expression, we create safe, consistent, and empowering spaces for young people to grow, thrive, and succeed. We believe every child deserves a promise kept — and we work every day to make that promise real.

MAP produces digital media projects including The Bells I Hear podcast and video storytelling through YouTube, highlighting voices of youth, mentors, and community leaders.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Volunteer Podcast and YouTube Producer to oversee production and ensure high-quality, engaging audio and video content across MAP’s platforms. This role will manage the production pipeline from pre-production through editing and publishing, helping MAP reach wider audiences and amplify stories of resilience and mentorship. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and experienced in digital media production.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full production process for MAP’s podcast and YouTube content
• Coordinate recording schedules, guest outreach, and pre-production logistics
• Edit audio and video to ensure professional pacing, sound, and visuals
• Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to align messaging and storytelling
• Upload and optimize content on podcast platforms, YouTube Studio, and social media
• Track analytics and recommend strategies to grow audience engagement
• Maintain consistent branding, quality, and tone across all episodes and videos

Requirements

• Experience in podcast or video production (professional or volunteer)
• Proficiency with editing tools (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Audacity, Adobe Audition, or similar)
• Strong understanding of digital publishing (YouTube Studio, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or similar)
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams
• Passion for mission-driven storytelling and youth empowerment

Preferred Skills

• Experience producing nonprofit or advocacy-related media projects
• Knowledge of livestreaming or multi-camera recording setups
• Familiarity with SEO, metadata, and audience growth strategies for YouTube and podcasts
• Graphic design or motion graphics skills for thumbnails, intros, or promotional content
