About this Opportunity

Help Veterans in the Braintree/Randolph/Quincy area get to their medical appointments. Become a Norfolk County RSVP 'Rides for Veterans' Volunteer driver. Be part of this very gratifying program and make a huge difference to the local veteran community.

Many veterans either do not drive, don't own a car or can't afford the cost of transportation to get to their medical appointments and are left to fend for themselves (often without much success). The 'Rides for Vets' program provides veterans with free rides to their appointments. Trips may be local or to a VA Hospital including Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury or Brockton. As demand for vet rides grows, so does the need for more RSVP volunteer drivers.

Volunteers use their own vehicles and are provided with supplemental liability insurance and mileage reimbursement (@$.40/mile) by RSVP. Flexible scheduling. Drivers self-select rides based on where, when and how often they want to drive veterans to their appointments. Minimum of two rides per month.

Requires a valid MA driver’s license, a reliable car and a CORI background check. Volunteers must be 55 and over to be considered for this RSVPV activity.

Norfolk County RSVP(Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) is a community service program for volunteers who are 55 and over. We work with over thirty municipal, non-profit and healthcare organizations to recruit and match volunteers with programs that meet pressing community needs.
