Volunteer Phone Companion for Hospice Patients and Caregivers (Remote and In-Office)

Loneliness and social isolation are major challenges for individuals and families navigating end-of-life care. Our Phone Companion volunteers provide a listening ear, friendly conversation, and a much-needed human connection. This program creates meaningful intergenerational connections that benefit everyone involved. For College Students: This is a powerful, resume-boosting opportunity to gain meaningful experience in healthcare, customer service, or business. For Seniors (55+): Your life experience, empathy, and conversational skills are invaluable. This is a chance to connect with others and share your wisdom and compassion by:

• Making weekly check-in phone calls to assigned patients and/or their caregivers.
• Providing a friendly, empathetic presence and a listening ear.
• Engaging in supportive, non-clinical conversation.
• Documenting each call.
• Reporting any patient or caregiver concerns to a hospice staff member.
