About this Opportunity

The Greenville St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival is an annual, family-oriented, all-volunteer celebration of Irish culture and heritage in Downtown Greenville, SC. The event features a parade that proceeds up Main Street, followed by a large festival at NOMA Square. The festival includes traditional Irish music, dancing, food, beer, and activities for the entire family. A key purpose of the event is to raise funds for charities, often supporting the St. Baldrick's Foundation for children's cancer research.

Here are the four volunteer roles and their duties:

  • Kids Area:
    • Duty: Handing out prizes and supervising activities for children.
  • Parade Marshal:
    • Duty: Helping to ensure the parade runs smoothly along the route, which can include directing foot traffic, managing barricades, and generally assisting spectators.
    • Assisting with the organization and staging of parade participants (floats, bands, groups) in the designated line-up area before the parade begins.
  • Beer Truck
    • Duty: Checking wristbands and pouring beer.
  • Ticket Booth and Beer Truck:
    • Duty: Selling tickets for food and beverage as well as selling official Greenville St. Patrick's Day merchandise.
