About this Opportunity
MISSION: The mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking.
PURPOSE OF JOB: To serve the Court Monitoring Program, observe the court system and collect information on impaired driving misdemeanor and felony cases.

Kendall County Courthouse: 1 position available
Winnebago County Courthouse: 1 positions available
McHenry County Courthouse: 1 position available
Lake County Courthouse: 1 position available
Will County Courthouse: 1 positions available
Macon County Courthouse: 1 position available
Sangamon County Courthouse: 1 position available
Vermillion County Courthouse: 1 position available
DuPage County; 1 position available
DUTIES:
- Attend all court monitoring trainings.
- Attend impaired driving misdemeanor or felony court cases.
- Become familiar with court room procedure.
- Collect information on misdemeanor or felony impaired driving cases and submit information to MADD staff in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: In addition to experience gained in the courtroom, interns and volunteers have unique opportunities!
- Help program outreach and event operational support at Walk Like MADD and other events.
- Cross-training with MADD community partners including: Law Enforcement, District Attorneys and other stakeholders.
- Attend MADD Community events if available.
TRAINING:
- One on one training
- Virtual training
- Learn how to utilize clerk's office database
- Learn to read court records and data mine
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Age 18 or older.
- Currently enrolled in university or college courses.
- Excellent attention to detail, listening skills, and ability to think critically.
- Respect for confidentiality.
- Background check required.
- Must not have a case pending or be convicted of an impaired driving offense.
- Access to email and phone on a regular basis in order to communicate with MADD staff member.
TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED:
- Flexible schedule: Must have agreed upon hours.
- Weekly check-in meetings.
- At least a three-month commitment.
- Court Monitors will be asked to submit total hours at the end of each month.
LOCATION: All counties are located in Illinois
Lake County, Cook County (Daley Center), Will County, Macon County, Winnebago County, McHenry County, DuPage County, Vermillion County, Sangamon County.
