About this Opportunity

The World Federalist Movement – Institute for Global Policy (WFM-IGP) is seeking a dedicated and forward-thinking Treasurer to join its international Board of Directors. This is a volunteer position offering a unique opportunity for an accountant, lawyer, or finance professional to gain experience as a corporate treasurer and contribute to a movement seeking a just, free, and peaceful world through more effective, equitable, and accountable global governance.

About Us:

Founded in 1947, WFM-IGP is a visionary non-profit organization promoting global governance as the solution to global challenges including war, disarmament, environmental degradation, regulation of emerging technologies, injustice and inequity - in short, replacing the law of force with the force of law. WFM-IGP is registered in the Netherlands, chartered in New York State, and qualified by the IRS as a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization.

The Role of Treasurer:

  • Serves as a member of the WFM-IGP Board of Directors (meets every other month online).
  • Leads on budget oversight and financial policy and Chairs the Board’s Finance Committee (meets monthly separately from the Board online).
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and financial requirements across relevant jurisdictions, in particular the U.S. and the Netherlands. (The Assistant Treasurer is based in the Netherlands and assists with compliance there.)
  • Works with a part-time bookkeeper and external accountant to manage reporting and audits.

Additional Details:

  • Time Commitment: Approximately 10 or more hours per month. Participation in Board and Finance Committee meetings expected (online).
  • Term Length: initially 2 years, renewable.
  • Support Provided: Outgoing Treasurer will assist with onboarding. Assistant Treasurer, Finance Committee and staff provide ongoing collaboration.
  • Financial Scale: Modest annual operating budget supported by grants, contributions, and institutional partnerships, income growth expected.

Requirements:

  • Background in finance, accounting, law, or nonprofit governance
  • Familiarity with international nonprofits or interest in global policy a plus
  • Creative, collaborative, and passionate about building a better world
  • Commitment to the organization’s mission
