About this Opportunity
Basic volunteer duties involved in this assignment:
- Volunteers visit with individuals under guardianship of the Court in nursing homes. The number of cases is determined by the volunteer based on their preference and schedule. After each visit a brief report is completed and return it to the Court.
- The Senior Visitor helps to monitor the care and circumstances of wards residing in long-term care facilities. Often these individuals have no family and their advocate is a volunteer guardian.
- The Senior Visitor provide both a support to the guardian in place and helps to ensure that the needs of these seniors are being met.
Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment: 21 years old, hold a current Ohio driver license, have dependable transportation, complete an application with three references, and complete a no cost background check.
Who will be served by this assignment? Wards of the Court often without any living relatives. All persons are in nursing home situations and under guardianship of the Court. Wards have assigned guardians in place. Senior Visitors are the extra eyes, ears and outreach to these individuals
What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service? Volunteers fill a vital role in the care of those under guardianship. They are another set of eyes on their care and can report a problem that may have otherwise gone unseen so the Court can take action. If there are no problems at the time, volunteers will brighten the day of the person visited who may have no one else!
