Volunteer Ombudsman positions are available throughout the state of Idaho. An ombudsman is a person who advocates for people living in assisted living and nursing homes. Ombudsman can also investigate concerns and problems in long-term care. People of all backgrounds are welcome to volunteer. We will provide you with the necessary training for this role.

The ideal Ombudsman:

  • Is above all compassionate.
  • Has good communication skills.
  • Tenacity, and a desire to help others.
  • Can complete online training, pass a background check, is willing to volunteer at least 3 hours a month.
  • You will need to fill out an application, interview, and pass a background check. From there you will attend online training. Afterward you will receive a certificate and badge allowing you to enter a long-term care facility at any time.
