About this Opportunity
Be ready to help your local community!
Due to predictions for an active hurricane and wildfire season, the Red Cross will need thousands of volunteers to care for people when disasters strike. Train now to be a Red Cross Shelter Volunteer so you can answer the call when your community needs it most!
We will need volunteers to help support emergency shelters by staffing different areas including reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information collection, and other vital tasks. We have both associate and supervisory level opportunities available.
This position supports disasters all throughout the United States. Those interested in this position must be able to deploy within 24-48 hours of getting the "call to deploy" and commit to serving for a 14-day deployment. Travel, Lodging, and Food will be arranged for these volunteers.
Note: If you can only help out locally (within 50 miles of your residence), you can still apply to be a Shelter Trainee if you are able to serve for at least 3 days (to help get a local shelter up and running) or if you can commit to 7 days, we can deploy you within the Region (Oregon and SW Washington).
