About this Opportunity
Your local American Red Cross office is seeking a leadership volunteer to serve as a coordinator for our Youth Action Campaign which focuses on making youth aware of International Humanitarian Law. Do you have experience working with youth and want to learn all about International Humanitarian Law? This could be a great way for you to give back to your community in a meaningful way. Here is what you could do as a YAC Coordinator:
The coordinator for the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Youth Action Campaign (YAC) coordinates the program at a regional level. The YAC informs youth ages 13-24 about IHL and encourages youth to build a peer-to-peer awareness campaign on an IHL topic.
- Attend the Coordinator Training administered by NHQ.
- Recruit teams of youth IHL advocates from your region to participate in the program.
- Implement the IHL training for youth teams and help them to design their campaigns on an IHL topic.
- Commit 2-4 hours a week with youth teams during the implementation of the campaign.
- Take responsibility for youth registration, evaluation of the campaign, purchasing of supplies, and process for selecting who to send to DC for the annual summit.
- Report data related to metrics to regional staff in a timely manner.
- Communicate as necessary with the IHL Program Officer at NHQ.
- Participate in the monthly call during the implementation of the program.
- Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.
In addition to having experience working with youth we are seeking someone who is passionate about our Red Cross mission, has computer skills, and has effective communication skills. This role can provide you with professional experience with a highly respected organization. If you would like to join the team, please sign up at redcross.org/volunteer.
