About this Opportunity
Bring colorful, fleece, flannel, yarn/ fabric and come make blankets any way you can for March of the Blanketeers. March of the Blanketeers, is a Long Island Based nonprofit, whose Volunteers handmake blankets, bears, cards, and hats for severely, and terminally ill: babies, children, and teens Hospitalized in the US, through an eco-friendly manner. Please join us for our 13th Annual Blanket Making Event held at the Nesconset, NY Branch of the Smithtown Library on November 9th, 2025, from 1PM-3PM. Bring a friend or two, as we are trying to get 30-50 people to help this wonderful cause! Remember, that everything made for us, must be left with us, for washing, and distribution! There are a few VERY important REQUIREMENTS we ask of you, so pay attention closely: If using Yarn; use ONLY: - Acrylic - Cotton - Nylon - OR Polyester NO WOOL, NOR WOOL BLENDS! Wool is an allergen and poses as a threat to already compromised immune systems of our recipients. If you intend on using fleece, please do us a favor and bring your own, as it is costly, and take care NOT to include any of the following: - Adult Topics - Blood, Gore - Dark Backgrounds (Planetary system designs are permitted) - Death - Demons - Drug References - "Get Well Soon!" (Many of our recipients will never truly, "Get Well Soon!") - Hell - Physical Embellishements - Reminders that they are ailing - Smoke - Syringes Please be kind, nice, and respectful, as it takes a lot of planning to put this together, and we just want to bring comfort, and warmth to a sick Pediatric, or NICU Patient. BE PROMPT, and on time, please for signing in, and filling out your nametag sticker. Light Refreshements will be served as a first come, first serve basis, and are limited. The Library has a Vending Machine, and Filtered Water Bottle Fountain.
