Meal Service Volunteer - Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner Shifts

At Mitchell House, we believe that meals are more than nourishment — they’re moments of care, connection, and comfort. As a Meal Service Volunteer, you’ll help prepare, plate, and serve simple meals to residents and occasionally visiting family members. Some shifts may include companionship or helping tidy the dining area.

No clinical or cooking experience required — just a warm presence and willingness to serve with dignity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare or assist with simple meal setup (per menu or staff instructions)
• Plate and serve meals to residents in the dining room or in-room
• Reheat prepared dishes or prep light items (e.g., toast, soup, sandwiches)
• Assist with light kitchen tasks (dishes, wiping surfaces, organizing supplies)
• Engage warmly and respectfully with residents if conversation is welcome
• Notify staff of any dietary or emotional concerns observed during mealtime
• Help tidy the kitchen and dining area after meals
• Uphold a peaceful, home-like atmosphere

Shift Options (Flexible Scheduling):

• Breakfast: 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM
• Lunch: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
• Dinner: 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
• Weekday and Weekend shifts available
• (Volunteers can commit weekly, biweekly, or fill in as needed.)
