Volunteer in Bhaktapur Nepal - Volunteering Abroad Opportunities

Volunteer Abroad in Bhaktapur Nepal: is an ancient city in the Kathmandu Valley, renowned for its elegant art, fabulous culture and colorful festivals. Known as Nepal's "Open museum", the city is closed to all cars, taxi, rickshaws and is a true walkers paradise. Although Bhaktapur is less than 10 miles from Kathmandu, it gives off a feeling of ancient times given the ambiance of traditional homes, temples, and peaceful environment.

Bhaktapur has more temples per square foot than both Patan or Kathmandu, and is listed as a Worlds Heritage site listed by the UNESCO. Visitors can spend hours wandering the small winding streets and outdoor squares such as the Durbar Square, a fascinating structure of palace having 55 windows, and now home to the National ional Art Gallery.

With its serene atmosphere, friendly people and ancient traditions, Bhaktapur is a magical place to visit and volunteer. Take a step back in time, volunteer in Nepal.

We offer the following programs in Bhaktapur:

Program Length: 1-24 weeks

Program Date: Flexible Start & End Date

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hour per day

Accommodations: Home stay.

Meals: Yes, 3 meals a day

Requirements: 17 years or older, an open mind to new adventures.

Children's Home/Orphanage

Volunteer in a local orphanage, home to over 30 children, boys and girls ages infants to 16 yrs old. These children are orphans, some have been abandoned, and some have parents but still require extra support.

Volunteers help with teaching English, caring for infants, meal preparation, arranging sports, creating games and teaching of vocational skills. Prior experience not necessary, volunteers should have a lot of patience, an open mind and a sense of compassion.

Program Includes:

Airport transportation on arrival in Kathmandu to Bhaktapur, in-country orientation and project briefing with ABV Project Director, placement in program, Meals and accommodations with a local host family nearby to the project site, Support of on-site Project Director, departure transfer at the end of the program.
