About this Opportunity

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.

Wish granter volunteers interview wish kids to determine their wishes, and send in paperwork to the office. When the wish is approved, the wish granters find creative ways to "enhance" the child’s wish.

Our chapter typically grants around 2-3 wishes per year for families who communicate with ASL and often has a difficult time finding volunteers who can help.

We are looking for people who are fluent in ASL, who can help interview wish families in ASL. In addition to volunteering locally, there is a need for ASL volunteers at Make-A-Wish chapters across the country. You could help by conducting virtual wish interviews on Zoom or similar platforms.

Deaf and Hard-of-hearing people are strongly encouraged to apply.

Diversity makes us stronger. Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area is committed to diversity in its service and creating an inclusive work culture and environment that is reflective of the San Francisco Bay Area. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, age, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.
