Seasonal Storm Buddies Needed for Elder Blind

Did you have a buddy during that last power outage and storm, someone who called to make sure you were ok; that you had bread, milk and medications sufficient to last 4-5 days. Is there someone who offered you hot soup, a warm blanket, a cup of coffee or a place to stay warm over-night? If so, you understand how important it is to know that someone cares. You can be that someone for an elder or a neighbor who is socially isolated and legally blind.

Requirements to be a great volunteer include:

• a desire to help others;
• a pleasant demeanor;
• a good reading/speaking voice;
• average reading skills;
• organizational or planning abilities;
• a good driving record;
• a clear criminal history;
• two references
• access to a car with proof of insurance;
• a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.
• You must be a resident of CT, Massachusetts, New York, or Rhode Island - there is no Passport, Visa, Stipend or relocation assistance.
