About this Opportunity
Fruitslice—a volunteer-run, Queer literary publication and creative community—is looking for a detail-oriented and creative Airtable Specialist to help us optimize, streamline, and scale our internal workflows. This role will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and Project Management Team to build intuitive systems that support editorial processes, event planning, volunteer coordination, budgeting, and beyond.
This is a remote, volunteer-based role with flexible hours. We're looking for someone who is organized, reliable, collaborative, and excited to help Queer art and community flourish.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit and improve existing Airtable bases for functionality, consistency, and user-friendliness
- Build new custom Airtable bases to support various departments (e.g., submissions, finances, projects, HR)
- Set up automations, linked records, filtered views, and dashboards that make it easy for non-tech-savvy users to collaborate
- Integrate Airtable with tools like Slack, Google Drive, Submittable, email, or other platforms where possible
- Offer documentation and lightweight onboarding for staff (e.g., short Looms or written guides)
- Provide ongoing maintenance or occasional troubleshooting as needed
Ideal Qualifications
- Strong experience working in Airtable, including base design, formula writing, automation setup, and interface creation
- Clear communicator who can design systems with ease-of-use in mind
- Familiarity with creative teams, nonprofits, or editorial workflows a plus
- Experience integrating Airtable with Zapier, Slack, Google Sheets, or similar tools
- A collaborative, patient approach—you’ll be working with passionate people who might not speak spreadsheet fluently!
- Queer identifying
Why Join Us?
This is a chance to be part of a scrappy, growing queer arts organization doing meaningful, collaborative work. You’ll have creative freedom to shape our systems in ways that reflect our values: care, clarity, playfulness, and sustainability.
This is a volunteer role. Priority is given to QTPOC individuals and people from other intersectional and historically marginalized communities. We recognize that unpaid creative work can be exploitative—and we actively work to push back against that.
We aim to make all roles at Fruitslice collaborative, flexible, and nourishing. In addition to being part of a deeply passionate team where your voice will be genuinely valued, you’ll have access to professional development support, an active peer community, and internal mutual aid resources. We believe in resourcing each other however we can.
We can’t wait to meet you.
