About this Opportunity
A dedicated volunteer is needed to monitor social media platforms such as NextDoor, Craigslist, and Facebook for Baltimore-area posts concerning the welfare of animals, particularly cats. Reach out as needed to help ensure the best outcomes for animals being sold or given away, who are in need of spay/neuter, or who have been lost or found. This position has the potential to impact hundreds or thousands of animal lives each year.
- Outreach and offer resources to those finding, feeding, or otherwise needing help with cats and kittens.
- Outreach to individuals rehoming pets to offer resources and guidance.
- Offer timely lost and found resources to help reunite people and their pets.
- Rapid intervention when animal lives or welfare is threatened, including physically picking up animals and transporting them to rescues or shelters.
- Document questionable situations regarding animal welfare for law enforcement.
You will receive full training/mentoring for this position, which can be done at any time that's convenient for you but preferably throughout the day. This is the perfect opportunity for a retired person or anyone who is not working for whatever reason. You should be tech savvy and able to respond quickly in urgent situations.
Please note, we are unable to accommodate service hour requirements.
