Mama H’s Farm for a Better Tomorrow is a startup nonprofit off-grid family farm and animal rescue dedicated to healing and empowerment for veterans, trauma survivors, and families affected by domestic violence and child abuse. We center mental health healing through sustainable living practices, animal-assisted support, and the restorative power of compassionate community. This remote volunteer role has the potential to evolve into a paid position based on fundraising success, organizational needs, and performance metrics.

What You’ll Do

Fundraising Strategy & Planning

Collaborate with leadership to design short- and long-term fundraising plans aligned with our goals

Identify target donor segments (veterans, trauma survivors, animal lovers, families, local businesses, foundations) and tailor approaches

Donor Acquisition & Retention

Build and manage a donor pipeline, including outreach, onboarding, and stewardship

Maintain accurate donor records and reporting in a nonprofit CRM or approved spreadsheets

Events & Campaigns

Plan and execute virtual/remote-friendly fundraising activities (online campaigns, livestreamed farm tours, donation drives, awareness campaigns) with veteran and survivor accessibility in mind

Coordinate volunteers, logistics, sponsorships, and shift scheduling

Grant Support & Sponsorships

Research grant opportunities and assist with compelling inquiries/proposals under leadership guidance

Seek corporate sponsorships and cause-related marketing partnerships

Communications & Outreach

Create fundraising communications (emails, newsletters, social posts) highlighting healing through sustainable living and animal-assisted support

Develop impact statements, reports, and donor updates with trauma-informed storytelling

Volunteer & Community Engagement

Cultivate a welcoming volunteer program; connect donors with meaningful involvement

Build trust with veterans, trauma survivors, and animal rescue partners

Compliance & Ethics

Adhere to fundraising laws and nonprofit best practices (privacy, consent, reporting)

Uphold ethical standards in all donor interactions

Ideal Candidate Profile (Qualifications)

Deep alignment with the organization’s mission and a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach

Strong empathy and willingness to work respectfully with veterans, trauma survivors, and animal rescue supporters

Excellent written and verbal communication

Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail

Self-motivated, able to work independently, manage time, and meet deadlines

Foundational understanding of fundraising concepts or strong willingness to learn

Proficiency with basic digital tools (email marketing, social media, spreadsheets, entry-level CRM)

Comfort with occasional on-site activities or farm tours as safety permits

Preferred Qualifications

Prior volunteer coordination, fundraising, grant writing, or nonprofit experience

Experience with donor management software or CRMs (e.g., GiveGab, Bloomerang, Little Green Light) or willingness to learn

Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and mental health awareness

Graphic design, storytelling, or content creation skills for fundraising materials

Networking abilities to build partnerships with veteran organizations, animal rescue groups, and local businesses
