About Mentor A Promise

Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to building trust, providing guidance, and creating opportunities for youth and communities to thrive. We provide mentorship, social-emotional learning, academic enrichment, and creative development for children and youth experiencing housing instability in New York City.

To strengthen collaboration and communication, MAP is building an internal intranet site to serve as a centralized hub for resources, onboarding, and cross-team coordination.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Volunteer Intranet Site Developer & Maintainer to design, launch, and manage MAP’s internal intranet. This role is essential to creating a secure, user-friendly, and organized digital space where volunteers and leadership can access policies, training, and organizational resources. It is an excellent opportunity for someone with web development skills who wants to make a meaningful impact in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and launch MAP’s internal intranet site (platform selection in collaboration with leadership)
  • Maintain and update content, including onboarding materials, policies, forms, and organizational resources
  • Ensure the site is easy to navigate, secure, and accessible to all volunteers
  • Collaborate with leadership and department leads to structure resources effectively
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and maintain smooth site functionality

Qualifications

  • Experience or interest in web design/development, IT, or intranet platforms (e.g., Google Sites, SharePoint, or similar)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while meeting project milestones
  • Collaborative mindset and openness to feedback
  • Prior nonprofit or volunteer experience a plus, but not required

Commitment

  • Volunteer role, approximately 5–10 hours per week
  • Flexible schedule; fully remote with virtual meetings
  • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred

What You’ll Gain

  • Practical experience in web development, information design, and project management
  • Opportunities to collaborate with nonprofit leaders and cross-functional teams
  • A portfolio project demonstrating digital infrastructure development for a growing nonprofit
  • Letters of recommendation and professional references
