💼 Role Overview

The Social Media Manager is responsible for managing the social media strategy of our nonprofit organization. They play a crucial role in creating engaging content, growing the organization's online presence and building strong relationships with our target audience. The manager will leverage various social media platforms to promote the nonprofit's mission, increase awareness and drive engagement with supporters, donors and potential donors. This role requires an understanding of social media trends, excellent communication skills and a passion for nonprofit work

🧩 Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic social media calendar aligned with organizational campaigns, events, and initiatives
  • Create compelling content (graphics, videos, captions) that reflects our values and drives engagement
  • Manage and grow our presence on platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Monitor analytics and adjust strategies to optimize reach, engagement, and conversion
  • Collaborate with event planners, program leads, and volunteers to spotlight impact stories and community voices
  • Respond to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely, mission-aligned tone
  • Stay current on trends in nonprofit marketing, social media algorithms, and platform updates
  • Support fundraising and awareness campaigns with targeted digital outreach

🎯 Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing social media for a nonprofit, brand, or community initiative
  • Strong writing and visual storytelling skills
  • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Meta Business Suite, and scheduling tools like Buffer or Later
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (Meta Insights, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Passion for community service, equity, and literacy
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment

🌱 Bonus Skills

  • Video editing and reel creation
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
  • Knowledge of SEO and digital advertising strategies
