About this Opportunity

BECOME A PENPAL (VIRTUALLY) WITH SOMEONE WHO IS INCARCERATED: Food for Children, Inc. has established a program to provide PenPals to those who are in prison. Our mission is to share normal conversation, stories, and true friendship with those who are incarcerated; to give them a connection to society beyond prison walls.

REQUIREMENTS: To volunteer, you must be at least 18 years old.

WHAT IS NEEDED AND WHY: Volunteer as a PenPal Correspondent with someone who is incarcerated. Make a huge difference in his/her life. You will enrich your life as well. Jeff’s Second Family PenPal Ministry is a community of caring people who believe in second chances.

WHERE: Volunteering is done from the comfort of your own home by corresponding electronically with your PenPal, at your own pace, from either a Personal Computer or a Smart Device (Cell Phone or Tablet).

CONTACT US: To participate, please email to: [email protected] In the email

Subject Line, please indicate: "Jeff’s Second Family PenPal Ministry".

PROCEDURE: Once you decide to volunteer, we will scan and email you one or more Inmate letters to review.

COMMUNICATION OPTIONS: We will also provide you with specific instructions in order to Register and Use the Inmate’s E-Messaging System to send electronic mail to your PenPal. Or, if you prefer, we will provide USPS mailing instructions to the Inmate's facility (which permits you to use an ALIAS). Each method of correspondence with an Inmate requires the purchase of either an “E-Stamp” for electronic correspondence, or a US Postage Stamp to correspond via the USPS.

ENHANCE LIVES! Your relationship with your Inmate PenPal will be one of mind and spirit, and should be based upon mutual respectfulness. The main goal is for your Inmate PenPal to know that he or she is not forgotten by all of society beyond their prison walls.

YOU CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE’S LIFE.

THANK YOU!!
