Opportunities for Community Service:
We have a variety of tasks that can help you meet your hour requirements, including:
- Shelter Cleaning & Maintenance:
- Sanitizing common areas, bathrooms, and dormitories.
- Laundry duty (washing, folding, and organizing linens and donated clothing).
- Organizing storage areas and supplies.
- Light outdoor maintenance (sweeping, tidying common outdoor spaces).
- Donation Processing:
- Sorting and organizing donated clothing, toiletries, and household items.
- Stocking our pantry and supply closets.
- Kitchen Support:
- Assisting with meal preparation (chopping vegetables, setting up meal lines).
- Washing dishes and cleaning kitchen areas after meals.
- General Support:
- Assisting staff with various administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements for Court-Ordered Community Service:
- Initial Interview: All prospective community service volunteers must complete an initial interview with our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss the nature of the service, your hours requirement, and our policies.
- Background Check: A background check is required for all volunteers
- Court Documentation: You must provide official documentation from the court or probation officer outlining your community service requirements.
- Commitment to Our Mission: We expect all volunteers to treat our residents and staff with respect, empathy, and dignity.
- Reliability: Consistency and punctuality are crucial for us to effectively manage our operations and support our residents.
You must be 18 years old to complete court-ordered community service at the Brisben Center.
