Our subsidiary, 1st Gen College Hub, provides comprehensive resources, personalized guidance, and a supportive community specifically designed for first-generation college students.
Volunteer Opportunity:
We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Scholarship Partnership Liaison to join our team. This volunteer will play a crucial role in researching and developing partnerships with scholarship funding sources to support the expansion of our app, 1st Gen College Hub. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education equity, strong research skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Research potential scholarship funding sources, including private foundations, corporations, government agencies, and educational institutions, that align with our mission.
- Initiate contact with potential scholarship partners through cold calls, emails, and networking events.
- Develop and maintain relationships with scholarship managers and other stakeholders to explore and establish partnership opportunities.
- Collaborate with the strategic partnerships and development teams to prepare proposals and presentations for potential partners.
- Keep detailed records of research findings, communications, and partnership outcomes using CRM tools such as HubSpot and Salesforce.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions to identify new scholarship-sourcing strategies and improve existing processes.
- Provide regular updates on partnership development efforts to the Director of Strategic Partnerships and the team.
Qualifications
- Strong commitment to the mission of empowering first-generation college students.
- Excellent research, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with CRM tools such as Google Workspace, HubSpot, and Salesforce.
- Background in education, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Experience in partnership development, fundraising, or scholarship management is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the higher education sector and scholarship funding mechanisms.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace for collaboration and documentation.
- Ability to initiate and maintain professional relationships with a diverse range of partners.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
