About this Opportunity
Heartland Hospice offers volunteer opportunities for caring individuals who wish to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. Here are some ways you can serve as a visitor volunteer:
As a Companionship Visitor Volunteer, you will be given choices as to how much and what types of activities you want to do. Volunteers have flexibility; the opportunities may be once monthly to once weekly depending on your availability.
Our patients reside in private homes, local nursing facilities, and assisted living facilities. Some examples of typical volunteer duties are:
- Listening to a patient's concerns
- Being a comforting and supportive presence
- Engaging in the patient's hobbies
- Running errands or doing light housekeeping for those receiving hospice acare at home
- Providing time for the caregiver to take care of her/himself
Our volunteers are "hands off" and no medical training is required; all you need is a compassionate heart! To ensure our volunteers feel comfortable with their tasks, Heartland Hospice provides training covering grief counseling, emotional support and end of life care.
Put your time and talent to wonderful use by lending a helping hand and making an impact in your community! Your gift of time provides immeasurable rewards!
