Description of Opportunity

About the Project This is a formal partnership between the Impact Fashion Hub, a mission-driven nonprofit founded by Dr. LeeAnn Teal-Rutkovsky, and New York University (NYU). This collaboration will create a global learning, innovation, and community engagement hub on our innovative platform, thepeopleshub.org.

Our mission is to empower a worldwide network of students, designers, and consumers to drive systemic change in the fashion industry by tackling issues such as poverty, plastic pollution, greenwashing, and unethical production practices. We are seeking passionate and skilled volunteers to help us build a movement that will position NYU as a global leader in a new, more inclusive definition of sustainable fashion.

Why Your Contribution Matters This is more than just a volunteer role-it's a chance to be part of a living lab for sustainability. Every hour you contribute helps us:

  • Inspire Action: By showcasing ethical exemplars and solutions from around the world, from Rwanda's creative industries to Indigenous-led initiatives in India and Greenland.

  • Educate and Raise Awareness: By creating powerful documentaries, podcasts, and articles that expose fast fashion's human and environmental toll.

  • Foster a Global Community: By connecting NYU students, ethical designers from the Global South, and communities in need.

  • Drive Tangible Social Impact: By contributing to our "Sewing the Change" fundraising campaign, which directly provides sewing machines and training to women and youth in underserved communities.

Volunteer Roles We Are Recruiting For:

  • Bloggers & Vloggers: Create engaging, evidence-based content for our blog and social media. Share stories, conduct interviews, and help us counter greenwashing by spotlighting ethical brands.

  • Copywriters & Researchers: Help craft compelling narratives for our media campaigns. Research ethical brands and sustainability topics to ensure our content is accurate and impactful.

  • Artists & Creatives: Contribute to our media campaigns with original art, photography, or music. Your creativity will help us expose issues and celebrate cultural legacy.

  • Tech & AI Enthusiasts: Assist with developing and implementing our innovative AI tools for supply chain transparency, greenwashing detection, and digital archiving of traditional textile motifs. This is a chance to work with cutting-edge technology for social good.

Skills and Experience Needed We are looking for self-starters who are passionate about fashion sustainability and social justice. While specific skills are a plus, a desire to learn and a commitment to our mission are most important. We welcome volunteers from diverse backgrounds and different states, as our goal is to build a truly global community.

Time Commitment We are flexible and can work with your schedule, whether you can commit a few hours a week or a more substantial amount. This is a remote opportunity, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the world.

How to Get Started If you are ready to be at the forefront of redefining ethical global leadership in fashion, we want to hear from you. Please reply to this listing with a brief message about your skills and why you are passionate about this project.

Note G: In accordance with our guiding principles, all project activities, including the use of AI, are conducted with a focus on ethical governance and positive social impact.
