Volunteer Pre-University STEM Innovation Program Committee Member
STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.
OVERVIEW:
We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to join our Volunteer Pre-University STEM Innovation Program Committee. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about STEM education and eager to help shape an innovative program for pre-university students.
Location: Remote - In Canada
Duration: 4 months – From planning to event completion.
Hours per Week: Approximately 4 hours – Flexible, with virtual meetings and independent tasks.
Program Prep Locations: University of Calgary, McMaster University, Simon Fraser University, University of Waterloo, University of Toronto.
DUTIES:
- Collaborate with committee members to plan and develop the Pre-University STEM Innovation Program.
- Assist in designing engaging STEM activities and workshops for students.
- Provide input on program logistics, including scheduling and resource allocation.
- Support outreach efforts to promote the program to prospective participants.
- Participate in regular weekly virtual meetings to ensure program goals are met.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong interest in STEM education and innovation.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Prior experience in event planning, education, or STEM fields is an asset but not required.
- Reliable internet access and proficiency with virtual collaboration tools (Zoom, Email).
