The mission of Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County is to create solutions, promote dignity, and inspire humanity. Despite a misconception that no one is hungry in Washtenaw County, the rising cost of living in the area has created a high percentage of working people who live on the edge of poverty. No one should have to decide between nutritious food and paying bills such as medicine and rent. Marginalized groups and older adults are disproportionately the ones facing these challenges. Nourish Nutrition Services, powered by JFS helps bridge the gap for our neighbors in need.
As a Food Pantry Delivery Driver Volunteer, you will help pack and deliver meals and groceries.
This is an in-person role averaging 10 hours per week. Hours of operation are Monday - Thursday 9am - 5 pm and Friday 9 am - 3 pm. Volunteers may sign up for shifts that fit their schedules.
Delivery Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday: meals and groceries will be delivered to older adult clients
Tuesday, groceries delivered to the community at large
Wednesday, groceries delivered to residents in a senior high rise
Thursday, groceries delivered to refugee resettlement clients
Volunteer delivery drivers are given 8 deliveries per route. This role requires lifting up to 25 pounds.
