Position Overview:
The Psychiatry Teaching Assistant supports faculty in teaching introductory psychiatry courses, conducting virtual simulations, and assisting students in practical and theoretical aspects of mental health care and psychiatric practice.
Location: Remote
Start Time: Jan 6, 2025
Time Commitment: 2 to 6 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Simulation Support: Assist in conducting virtual psychiatry simulations and role-playing exercises focused on mental health assessments, patient interviews, and therapeutic planning.
- Teaching Support: Lead online discussions, facilitate group activities, and assist with course materials covering topics such as mental health disorders, therapeutic techniques, and pharmacological interventions.
- Grading: Grade assignments, quizzes, and exams, and maintain student records.
- Student Assistance: Provide clarification and support for students’ understanding of key concepts in psychiatry, including diagnostic methods and treatment approaches.
- Resource Development: Help develop educational materials related to mental health scenarios, including case studies and therapy methods.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychiatry, Psychology, Mental Health Sciences, or a related field; graduate students preferred.
- Strong understanding of psychiatric principles, mental health diagnostics, and therapy techniques.
- Previous teaching or tutoring experience is a plus.
- Ability to communicate complex psychological concepts in an accessible and empathetic manner.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
