Legal Board Member Role
Join Empowered Futures as a Legal Board Member and act as a Spokesperson for the Legal Committee and its respective volunteer team members. The Legal Board Member oversees the Legal Team's initiatives, activities, short and long-term goals, current projects and plans, and internal communications. The Legal Board Member will also have full authority and responsibility to develop policies, procedures and regulations for the operation of the organization, and monitor the organization's legal standing, programs and overall performance.
Responsibilities:
- Commit to the mission, goals, objectives of the organization.
- Prepare for and attend Board Members and discuss current and long-term strategies and initiatives.
- Serve on the Legal Committee and subcommittees as appointed or elected.
- Provide general advice and assistance to the organization upon request by Board members and/or staff.
- Provide reports, materials, and other items associated with Board responsibilities and activities in a timely manner.
- Inform the Board of all actual and potential conflicts of interest relating to the general purposes and activities of the organization and to specific issues before the board.
Requirements:
- (J.D.) Juris Doctor or Bachelors degree in Legal Studies
- At least 5 years of current and/or previous experience in a legal leadership role
- Experience with managing teams and delegating tasks
- Current and/or or previous experience as a Board Member is a plus
Required Time Commitment: 10 to 15 hours/month, under a 1 Year Team
Attendance at all regular monthly board meetings (every 2nd Tuesday of the month)
