Service learning has deep connections to personal leadership. Service learning can be life long. But a lot of service learning as a field has taken place in universities: "Some universities are empowering students to organize their research, coursework, service-learning, international experiences, and entrepreneurial activities around one of the Grand Challenges identified by the National Academy of Engineering.
