About this Opportunity
The Narrative Strategy & Messaging Fellow will play a key role in helping the Peace Economy Project (PEP) shape powerful public narratives that challenge militarism and promote a just, peaceful, and people-centered economy. This fellow will support the development of strategic messaging across campaigns, amplify underrepresented voices, and help translate complex research and policy into accessible, emotionally resonant content.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a passion for social justice storytelling and an understanding of how language and framing influence public perception and political action.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop clear, values-driven messaging for PEP’s campaigns, including:
- “Move the Money”
- “Redirecting AI for Peace”
- “From Fireworks to Firepower”
- “Healthy Resolutions for Peace”
- Draft and refine talking points, social media copy, website content, and email newsletters.
- Assist with framing and storytelling for advocacy materials, including reports, petitions, and public letters to lawmakers.
- Analyze dominant media narratives and propose counter-narratives that uplift peace, justice, and equity.
- Collaborate with fellows across research and advocacy teams to ensure message consistency and impact.
- Option to contribute to creative campaigns such as podcast episodes, digital storytelling series, or spoken-word events.
Qualifications
- Strong writing and editing skills, with an ability to adapt tone and structure to fit various audiences and platforms.
- Academic or professional background in Communications, Journalism, English, Media Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Deep interest in peacebuilding, anti-militarism, or narrative justice.
- Familiarity with narrative framing, campaign messaging, or social movement storytelling.
- Experience with digital platforms (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress, or social media scheduling tools) is a plus.
