About this Opportunity

Project Bread, the leading statewide food security organization in Massachusetts, is seeking volunteers to assist with the 57th annual Walk for Hunger. Volunteers will help with registration, check-in, and logistics during the event.

The one-day community fundraiser for hunger relief is set for Sunday, May 4 on the Boston Common and will feature family-friendly activities, food and entertainment. The Walk for Hunger brings together thousands of community members annually to support the nonprofit’s approach to ensure food access for all children and families in Massachusetts.

Volunteers will be assigned to various stations around the scenic 3-mile loop on Boston Common with a Project Bread staff member as their contact. Advance training sessions will be provided on Tuesday, April 29 and Wednesday, April 30.

Volunteers between the ages of 10 and 16 should be accompanied by an adult. Children ages 10 and under are not permitted to volunteer. Groups are welcome. Each volunteer should register individually and indicate their volunteer group.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Check In & Registration of Walk attendees
  • Handing out materials such as food, water, informational resources and event swag
  • Assisting at photo and video booths
  • Cheering on Walkers along the route
  • And more!

Volunteers should plan to be onsite from 6:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 4. Breakfast, water and snacks will be provided, and each volunteer will have a 30-minute break allotted to them at their station.
