About this Opportunity

Camp Hosts at Tuckahoe and Martinak State Parks are volunteer positions.  In exchange for a free campsite, the Camp Host must work a minimum of 20 hours a week and also be available in the campground to answer questions and give guidance to other campers.  At both Martinak and Tuckahoe, the camp host complete their volunteer hours by cleaning the campground restrooms and helping with other maintenance chores in the campground area.  Training is provided the host on park policies and procedures, etc.  There is also a state wide Camp Host training session that is required for all Camp Hosts.   All Host candidates are interviewed by park staff members prior to being accepted into the Camp Host program.  Once accepted the host is assigned a one month trial period where the host learn the requirements of the position and the park staff evaluate the hosts skills and willingness to do the required work.  After the first month, the host and park management mutually agree if additional month will be added.  Typically, hosts rotate on a two to three month basis.
