Rules of the Kitchen

(a guide for Families and Volunteers)

It is the intent of RMHC to provide tasty, safe meals and snacks for our families every day.
We are very health conscious and ask that you help us keep this kitchen clean.

We respectfully ask that you follow the rules put in place.

This guide is meant to provide information that will help you find your way around the kitchen.
or let you know where to go should you have any questions or needs during your stay.
To our volunteer groups, THANK YOU for giving so generously of your time and resources.

to provide/prepare food that helps keep our families close!

1. All volunteers, staff and families are required to wear masks.
2. Wash your hands thoroughly and wear disposable food safety gloves when handling food.
These are in the drawer labeled HAND GLOVES.
3. All upper cabinets are now reserved for families. Pots and Pans, mixing bowls, utensils,
etc. that you need for meal prep are in lower cabinets and drawers and are clearly marked
for your convenience. Baking dishes, spices, and staple items are at your disposal in the
pantry.
4. Do not heat tortillas directly on the stovetop. Use a flat cast iron pan.
5. All food served to our families must be fresh and have a current date. All out-of-date food
must be discarded.
6. Please do not sit at the kitchen counters. Food preparation surfaces should be free of
contamination. Cleaning supplies are in cabinets above each of the sinks.
7. Although it is tempting, please DO NOT lick your fingers, bowls or utensils during food
preparation.
8. All meals will now be served directly by guest chefs or staff and leftovers placed in
compartmental food storage containers located in the pantry. Relief staff can assist with
this.
9. Use the splatter-proof lid when warming up food in the microwave oven. Wipe the lid and
the oven down after each use to ensure cleanliness for the next user.
10. Please clean any equipment you use and wipe all surfaces down with disinfectant wipes or
an all-purpose cleaner. Cleaning supplies are in the top cabinet next to the refrigerator.
11. If you need anything that youre unable to locate, please ask our staff on duty. They will be
happy to assist you.
12. To our baking buddies and guest chefs: please send us your selfies! We would love to
have a photo and a short story about your cooking crewWhats on the menu? Whos
cooking? Why do you do it? Send to: [email protected]
