About this Opportunity
Union County Fire/Rescue Department is looking for energetic and dedicated citizens of Union County to serve their community by becoming a suppression or support volunteer firefighter. Becoming a firefighter can be very exciting and rewarding. Most citizens do not get to see or experience a fire or rescue much less perform an active role at the scene. Volunteer firefighters respond to these emergencies and perform duties to handle the incident and help the people involved.
There are many duties in the fire department. Suppression firefighters enter buildings; extinguish fires and perform rescues. They may also perform many support functions. Firefighters in the Support role perform fire operations support such as placing ladders, deploying hose lines or pumping fire apparatus. They may also perform duties involving emergency medical, search and rescue, water rescue, ropes rescue, administration and command staff functions.
