Fire Fighter

The Live Oak Engine Company No.1 of the Rockville Centre Fire Department is currently accepting applications for positions as firefighters. As a member you will receive expert training in your assigned duties. Not only will you train to become a firefighter for the Rockville Centre community but you will earn the credentials to pursue a rewarding career in the emergency service field, if you choose to do so.

It is not uncommon for volunteers to use their training as a stepping stone to a full-time career in the police, fire, or medical emergency fields.

Live Oak Engine Company 1 has been providing emergency services for over 100 years, giving back, unselfishly, during fires, emergencies, and natural disasters such as hurricanes and snowstorms. We respond to hundreds of calls for assistance throughout the year. We help our fellow neighbors when they are in a time of need.

We are a dynamic group of people, with various backgrounds and life experiences. We are lawyers, business people, architects, students, police officers, bankers, teachers, homemakers, and much more. We form a family of Volunteers committed to serving the Garden City community.

What we do: Firefighting Vehicle Extrication Hazardous Materials Recognition and Response Drive/Operate Fire Apparatus Storm Assistance Fire Safety Education CPR AED Training

The training you will receive to be a firefighter will help you develop knowledge and skills that can even help you while home or at work, during your everyday life. Membership will provide you some of the strongest social ties you’ll ever make will be with your fellow volunteers… people who share your commitment and ideals. New to the community? It is a great way to meet your neighbors and make new friends.
