Are you a dependable, caring individual with a valid Maine drivers license? Do you have a passion for helping others and want to play an active role in your community? If so, we need YOU!
The Southern Maine Agency on Aging has partnered withYork County Community Action Corporation (YCCAC) to recruit Volunteer Drivers!Did you know that transportation is among one of the most requested services by older adults in Southern Maine? Volunteer Drivers provide critical door-to-door transportation services for individuals who are unable to access other means of transportation, including children and elderly residents of York County.
What will I do as a Volunteer Driver?
-Drive your own vehicle to provide transportation for individuals across York County and beyond.
-Provide door-to-door services to clients traveling to medical appointments and other essential services.
-Transport residents from any of the 29 towns in York County to services in and out of the County, as far south as Boston and as far north as Bangor, although the majority of the transportation requests are for appointments within York County and Southern Cumberland County (Scarborough/Portland).
Who Were Looking For:
-Dependable and caring individuals with a valid Maine drivers license and a good driving record.
-Volunteers who are interested in becoming an active part of their community and helping others.
-A minimum commitment of 4-6 months is preferred
When Will I Volunteer?
-Volunteer hours are flexible based on your availability.
-Transportation requests are typically from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 5-7 days a week.
-You can choose your schedule based on when youre available to drive.

Training & Support:
-All volunteers will receive a 2-3 hour initial orientation, with additional training available if you are interested in transporting children.
-Defensive driving and other training courses will be provided as necessary.
-Ongoing support
-Background checks are required.
