About this Opportunity
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of immigrants and refugees living in the Greater Portland area? The Intercultural Community Center is looking for dedicated volunteers to serve in its afterschool program, known as "Power School".
The Power School offers unique opportunities for volunteers to work with students from multicultural backgrounds. Volunteers may be asked to teach small classes of students, to be tutors or mentors. People interested in volunteering for the Power School, please email Bruce Garrow.
Hours for Afterschool: 4:00pm to 6:30pm Monday thru Thursday (Holidays and days-off correspond with Westbrook Schools Calendar). Volunteers can work daily, or at specific time slots during the week.
We look for volunteers with talents in different areas and at various levels of experience. Some examples:
- Experienced teachers;
- Experienced school administrators;
- Community members with no teaching experience who want to share their love of reading, math, science, history, computer science, art, or other academic study; or who want to provide administrative support for the school.
